Kangle Grassland

Best Time to Visit: Autumn is the best season for tourism. The green grassland is dotted with colorful flowers, birds, and cattle and sheep scattered among the grasses.

Due to the cold weather and the high altitude of the scenic spot, the water supply and drainage pipelines are out of service, which cannot guarantee the quality of the visit. The scenic spot decided to suspend the opening of the scenic spot from October 21, 2019 to April 30, 2020. Please change the travel route and avoid the travel.


Breif Introduction:
Located in Zhangye City of Gansu Province, Kangle grassland is one of the most popular grasslands in China.  It has an area around 1786 sq km, which contains Danxia Landform Scenic Area, Machangtan grassland, Kangle Monastery, and Snow Mountain Exploration Area.


Tour Highlights: The Pinewoods at Machangtan grassland have enjoyed fame among visitors. There are 9 stripes of pinewoods growing parallel on the slope of mountain, which look like army men that waiting for general's review. Each July, lots of herdsmen will gather around here for the grassland carnival of once a year. Horse racing, wrestling, archery, dancing and singing make here a sea of joy. The Kangle Monastery at the Dacaotan village was originally built in Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty, which has history over 300 years. The name of the Kangle grassland is in fact from the monastery.
