Destinations: LANZHOU - ZHANGYE - JIAYUGUAN - DUNHUANG
Traveling from east to west, this tour covers Lanzhou, Zhangye, Jiayuguan, and Dunhuang. It will be combined by the trains. Gansu province was one of the most important sections during the ancient Silk Road. Located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, northwest China, Gansu is one of the cradles of Chinese cultures.
Day 1 – Take Train from Lanzhou Zhangye
Upon arrival in Lanzhou, your private tour guide will meet you in the arrivals hall and transfer you to the railway station.
After a 3-4 hours bullet train tour, you will arrive in Zhangye. The local guide from us will pick you up and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 – Rainbow Mountains Tours
Today you will have a full experience of Zhangye Danxia Mountains. Binggou Danxia Park has totally different landscape and absolutely worth a visit. It is about an hour from Zhangye and the formations are quite interesting. These formations really do look like ice sculptures melting, which rings true to its name bing which means ice in Chinese. (2-3 hours) Then enjoy your lunch in Kangle County. In the afternoon, you are suggested to visit the Kangle Grassland. Kangle Grassland is located in Sunan Yugur Autonomus County. The green grassland is dotted with colorful flowers, birds, and cattle and sheep scattered among the grasses. (2 hours) Later, head to Rainbow Mountains China and enjoy the sunset of it. China Rainbow Mountain enjoys he honors of "The world's top ten magical geograpgcial wonders, is the best place for photography. The best time to see it is in the late afternoon/evening as the sun is setting. Blues, reds and golds are among the colors visible in the breathtaking rock formations. It is a glorious view! (4-5 hours) Then, drive back to your hotel for a good rest.

Day 3 – Zhangye/Jiayuguan
In the morning, you will visit the Mati Temple, which is well-known as the deity horse footprints. It is a tourist destination integrating grotto art, Buddhist culture, natural scenery, Yugurs and Tibetan style. (2 hours) After that, proceed to the downtown and enjoy your lunch there. In the afternoon, you will visit the Giant Buddha Temple in Zhangye, which is the largest architectural relic in Gansu Province of the Western Xia (1038-1227) period. China's largest reclining Buddha is well preserved in this temple. (1.5 hours) If time permit, you can visit the Wetland Park of Zhangye. (1 hour) Take bullet train to Jiayuguan. (About 1.5 hours) After you arrival, local guide will pick you up and drive to your hotel.

Day 4 – Jiayuguan/Dunhuang
Today you will witness the “first pass under heaven” – Jiayuguan Pass. Along with Juyongguan and Shanhaiguan, it is one of the main passes of the Great Wall, as well as the pass where Great Wall of Ming Dynasty starts. Here, you will visit the Jiayuguan Fort, Overhanging Great Wall and Great Wall Museum. (2-3 hours)
In the afternoon, you will drive from Jiayuguan to Dunhuang. (About 5 hours)

Day 5 – Dunhuang Tours
Today’s highlight is the Yardan National Geopark. Yardang has been created over time by the sort part of the earth surface having being eroded by wind and rain, with the hard part of the rocks remaining in the desert. You will drive from Dunhuang city westwards. On route, visit the Yumenguan Pass and Ruin of Great Wall of Han Dynasty.

Day 6 – Dunhuang Tours
After breakfast, start your full day Duhuang culture and sightseeing trip.
Firstly, drive from the Dunhuang city to visit the Mogao Grottoes. It is famed as the “Louvre of East”, which is outstanding for its exquisite mural paintings and statues. There are now 492 grottoes in which about 45000 square meters mural paintings and 2100 colorfully painted statues have been preserved very well.
Next proceed to visit the Echoing Sand Mountains. It is said, in the sunny days, the sand mountains echo like Orchestra music even if there is no wind. If you slide from the sand mountains, you can hear the echoing sound clearly.
The last attraction is Crescent Lake. Surrounded by sand mountains from four directions, the Crescent Lake is a beautiful oasis with some well decorated traditional Chinese architecture, some trees and flowers and a lake that has never dried up.

Day 7 – Dunhuang-Departure
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and at the appointed time your guide will meet you in the hotel and then transfer you to the airport/railway station.
